Lock and Keynote Christmas - 4

Lock and Keynote Productions (the same fine folks who brought The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee to Corner Brook this past summer) packed a cast of about 15 into Brewed on Bernard on Sunday afternoon for Merry Almost Christmas, a collection of Christmas and musical theatre selections to help you warm up to the season.

Lock and Keynote partner with Grenfell Campus each summer to host the annual Musical Theatre Camp. In order to help those students who might not be able to attend the camp due to financial reasons, Lock and Keynote directors Chris Jackman and Shari Porter have kick-started a scholarship fund. Merry Almost Christmas was the launch and first fundraiser for the fund.

Audience members packed into the relatively small coffee shop (at least compared to a theatre) and weren’t shy about donating to the new fund: over $500 was donated to the scholarship fund on Sunday. Hopefully the fund will continue to grow over the coming months and allow more talented students to attend camp.

Congrats to Chris, Shari and the cast members of Merry Almost Christmas. It’s exciting to see new groups doing new types of theatre in new venues in our city, and I’m really looking forward to see what Lock and Keynote can do in Corner Brook over the coming years.
