Carnival Through the Eyes of an Ambassador – Day 4

I woke up Monday morning not knowing what to expect. It was Carnival Day in Corner Brook so I knew that it was going to be busy, but little did I know the fun that was in store! It all began with a morning breakfast at the Legion to give us the energy we would need throughout the day. From there we all loaded on the bus and headed to our first event, the annual Lip- Sync Contest held by Silver Blades Skating Club.

There Matthew and I, along with Alexandra Young, were judges for this surprisingly intense event. It was a hard job for all entrants were talented and the competition was fierce, but in the end everyone was happy with the results! Following this we went to a chili lunch hosted by First United Church and it re-energized us for the next appointment on our agenda, an event I had been looking forward to all week – Bowling with seniors and the RNC!

Now, I have never been a big bowler but I picked up some great tips from the other players, resulting in a new personal best! After a few games we made our way to Margaret Bowater Park where many events were awaiting us. Snow sculpture contests, tug of war, and live music were just a few of the things that were happening at the Bell Aliant Family Fun Day in the Park. It was great getting the chance to meet and mingle with people of all ages in our city!

As things came to a close at the park we went to All Hallows Church for a delicious Cabbage Roll dinner, and then to the Pepsi Center for the Rusty Cup where the Ambassadors and Leifling sang the national anthem and Ethan dropped the puck! Following this was the Kinsmen Variety show which ended our long and busy day with a great evening of talent!
