After Coleman’s introduced sushi at it’s Gardens location a few years ago, sushi was introduced to the masses of Corner Brook. And very soon, Corner Brook will be able to experience another level of sushi.
Newfound Sushi at 117 Broadway is almost ready to open it’s doors. Jillian Parsons and I dropped by to chat with owner Kevin Vincent, and Jillian took some great photos.
If you remember Dino’s Pizza, then you’ll know where Newfound Sushi is but you won’t recognize it when you go inside. The interiors have been completely redone and spruced up.
When you enter you’ll find seating on your left and the sushi bar on your right.
The sushi bar will allow patrons to not only enjoy some delicious sushi or other menu items, but also watch it being made. Most of the sushi will be made out front, allowing you to see how it’s all done.
The bar itself is made of local juniper with a fantastic front edge, maintaining the original shape of the tree. If you aren’t a fan of sitting at a bar though, there’s lots of warm and welcoming seating with local art set to line the walls. Local glass artist Urve Manuel is currently hanging some of her large glass fish
Not in the mood to eat in? Newfound Sushi will have grab-and-go options available for a quick lunch, and take-out and delivery options. If you’re a Grenfell Campus student and can’t make it down to Newfound Sushi for lunch, don’t worry: Newfound Sushi will be available through Treats in the Grenfell cafeteria.
If the thought of sushi doesn’t mesh with your stomach, Newfound Sushi will also be serving other varieties of salads, stir frys and grilled seafood. However, I strongly encourage you to try sushi. I’m pretty sure you’ll like it.
The big question: when is it opening? Right now they’re looking at around a week and a half from now, they’re just waiting on a final shipment of supplies. For those who have been waiting for this, it won’t be long now.
For updates on Newfound Sushi, you can follow them on Facebook.
Big thanks to Jillian Parsons for the photos. You can check out more of her work on Flickr or at LargerThanACat.ca.
