Corner Brook is back in the winter games business — it was officially announced yesterday that the Special Olympics Canada Winter Games will be coming to the city in 2016.
According to the Transcontinental article, the games will bring “about 1,000 athletes and coaches, as well as 400 to 500 family members, friends, and supporters.” It will feature seven sports: curling, speed skating, figure skating, floor hockey, snowshoeing, downhill skiing, and Nordic skiing.
Just like when Corner Brook hosted the 1999 Canada Winter Games, no doubt they’ll be needing a pile of volunteers to make this run smoothly. Will you be throwing your volunteer hat in the ring?
