CBRH Student Raising Money for the Janeway… with wallets

September 24, 2012

Maike Van Niekerk is a level three student at Corner Brook Regional High who is putting her creativity to good use.

Over the summer, she made seventy-five duct tape wallets each carefully crafted with unique designs. Her plan was to sell them for $15.00 each to raise money for the Janeway Children’s Hospital Foundation.

100% of profits are being donated to the Janeway, and Maike’s aim is to raise one thousand dollars. The idea behind the project is that every time a person uses their wallet, they will be reminded of the money they gave in support of children at the Janeway Hospital. Her goal is thus to raise both funds and awareness.

There are many children from our community that have sought out the help of the Janeway, including current students from the high school. My heart goes out to those students and their families currently struggling with illness. We are all sending positive thoughts your way, and hoping that you will return home safe and healthy as soon as possible.
