Small Business Week Coffee Break, Cross Roads, Grenfell Campus – MUN, 10:00 am – 12:30 pm
The Coffee Break is a great opportunity to introduce the Navigate Entrepreneurial Program to the Students, Staff and Faculty of Memorial University-Grenfell Campus. Students, Staff and Faculty will be also invited to provide their suggestions on what new businesses they would like to see developed in our community. In addition, information on the Navigate Entrepreneurial Program will be available/presented. Refreshments provided, compliments of the Navigate Program.
Official Opening Reception: Upper Lobby, Arts & Science Building, Grenfell Campus – MUN, Corner Brook, 4:30 – 6:30 pm
Arts and entertainment is a large component of our culture and business community within Corner Brook. This year, to officially launch Small Business Week® 2012, we would like to celebrate our vast arts community through our opening reception. Please join us at Grenfell Campus for a networking reception where you will have the opportunity to view some of our great local talent through their artwork. Special guest speaker Jamie Lee Cormier, owner and operator of JL Gallery. This event is FREE to attend. Hors d’oeuvres and refreshments will be provided. This is great networking opportunity as we officially launch Small Business Week 2012.

Luncheon: Pepsi Centre, 12:00 – 1:30 pm
Special guest speaker Mr. Ed Martin, Nalcor Energy will be giving a special presentation on the development of Muskrat Falls and the impact on the economy of Western Newfoundland. Join us and discover how your business can become more involved! Pre-Registration is required. Cost to attend is $35 (members), $55 (non-members). Student rates are available.

Business fundamentals: Pepsi Centre, 8:00 am – 9:30 am
The Business Fundamentals session focuses on some of the most current elements of your business that directly impact your employees, your relation to our local community, and your customer base. During this session, special guest speakers Susanne Dawe and Jocelyn Noseworthy of Advanced Education and Skills will discuss working with young employees in the changing workforce; Tom Cochrane will discuss effective use of free advertising and multimedia; and Mark Lamswood of Go Western Newfoundland will discuss the impact of customer service on both your customers and bottom line. Breakfast will be provided, compliments of the Department of Advanced Education and Skills. Pre-registration is required. Entrepreneurial Awareness – Navigate Entrepreneurial Program: Lobby, College of the North Atlantic, 10:00 am – 12:00 pm
The Navigate Entrepreneurial Program will be presented to the Students, Staff and Faulty of the College of the North Atlantic. In addition, a number of government and community based business development/support agencies will be present and available to answer business questions and promote their various business support services. Refreshments provided, compliments of the Navigate Program.
Fall/Winter Tourism Information Session: Multi-purpose Room, 2nd Floor, City Hall, 1:00 – 4:00 pm
A FREE information session to give tourism operators and local business owners an opportunity to increase awareness within the industry of the many Fall/Winter tourist activities, products, and services available in Corner Brook and region. This is also a great opportunity for front line staff to become informed on what the area has to offer visitors. Each participant will be given an opportunity to give an overview of their products, display promotional materials, and submit images for a slideshow. A networking session will follow including nutrition break, compliments of the City of Corner Brook. Where do you go from here? Opening your business and establishing a regular customer base is only the first stage in the life of your business. While this is an incredibly important step, equally important is the consideration of where your business is headed as time progresses. This session will help provide some direction. Special guest speakers Glenn Janes of the Research and Development Corporation will discuss product expansion and development opportunities; Craig Priddle of Scotia McLeod and Rick Squires of Pricewaterhouse Coopers will highlight the importance of planning towards cashing out and winding down you business; and Carolann Pollett of the Department of Innovation, Business and Rural Development will discuss opportunities to export your products/services to other areas within our province and beyond. Join us as we officially close Small Business Week 2012! This is a great way to wind down the week and get ready for the weekend – cash bar will be available and finger foods will be provided compliments of the Business Development Bank of Canada. FREE to attend! Prize entries gathered throughout the week will be awarded, however entrants must be present to receive their prize during the reception in order to be eligible to win. Attendees are invited to bring along your co-workers, spouse, or friends – everyone is welcome!
