Hazy skies over Corner Brook made for a very apocalyptic looking evening on Thursday.
The haze is actually due to smoke in the upper atmosphere, blown over to Newfoundland from forest fires in Quebec. The special weather warning from the Weather Office reads:
A general westerly flow is allowing smoke from forest fires in Quebec to be transported over Newfoundland. At this time smoke has been observed primarily in the upper atmosphere over these regions, however, it is possible that some smoke may mix down to the surface reducing air quality at times.
Did anyone else notice the red skies and feel like you were in a sci-fi movie?
