FRAMED West: Calling for Participants and Actors!

April 6, 2015

If you are interested in being in front of or behind the camera this is an opportunity for you! FRAMED West, a one-week film education program, is coming back to Corner Brook from April 27 to May 1.

Joining us as our filmmaking mentor again this year is Allison White (Away Films). Since the program last year, Allison has had a very busy year promoting her feature film Cast No Shadow. Have you heard of it? Shot here in Newfoundland, the film swept up 6 awards at the Atlantic Film Festival and received 4 nominations at this year’s Canadian Screen Awards! Allison, one of the producers of the film, worked with director Christian Sparkes, producer Chris Agoston and writer Joel Thomas Hynes. Cast No Shadow, which screened at the St. John’s International Women’s Film Festival in October, is coming to select theatres this Friday April 3 (Mount Pearl/Halifax/Toronto).

We’re excited to have Allison back and ready to make another wonderful FRAMED Film. Last year we completed ‘Odd Socks’ over 5 days, and screened it to a full house in Grenfell’s Fine Arts building. This year’s participants can look forward to making another short comedy, based on an original screenplay by our contest winner Daniel Shears.

Anyone interested in learning about camera operation, lighting, set design, directing, producing and more should take part in this week-long intensive. For only $25 you get access to professional equipment, mentors who will work with you one-on-one during the filming process, and at the end of the week you can bring your friends and family to see the work you have done. Oh, and we provide lunch! The finished film will also screen at the 26th annual St. John’s International Women’s Film Festival in October.

If you are an actor, don’t feel left out! We are casting for our two lead roles, Greg and Marcy. Please see below for more details about our casting call.

As you can see from the photo above (I wish it was a better shot of me…) I participated in the camp last year. I definitely advocate that anyone who is available should get involved!
