This week we’re featuring another artist who took part in the RPM Challenge: Nick Hamlyn.
We’ve talked to Nick about different projects in the past, but this time he attempted to write and record an album in just the 29 days of February.
We’re only 8 days out of the RPM Challenge and music is still coming in from around the city and region from participants who successfully wrote and recorded an album in the month of February!
Today we’re going to highlight one of those artists: Black Diamond Rain, a collaboration between electronic/dance producer and DJ Andrew James Bowers (who goes by DJ Dain) and blues/folk singer/songwriter David Peddle. Put those two together and you get something really cool.
After I chatted with Brad Clarke last week about his RPM Challenge attempt, we recorded this song. He had only wrote it a few days before recording, and will be on his RPM Challenge record. The record is under the name Crisis Averted.
On Wednesday night I sat down with Brad Clarke to get an update on how he is finding the RPM Challenge . Check out our conversation below!
Last night I had a quick chat with Paul Heppleston about how he’s finding the RPM Challenge this year. Check it out below!
After I spoke with Nick Hamlyn last Thursday evening, we recorded a preview of two of the songs he’s working on for his RPM Challenge record. These songs are acoustic here, but will be fleshed out with bass, drums and fiddle for the final recording.
Take a listen below!
Last night I sat down for a quick chat with Nick Hamlyn to see how his entry into the RPM Challenge is going. Check out the video of our interview below!
The 2012 RPM Challenge (the challenge to record an album in the month of February) kicks off today!
We have a few local musicians registered already. If you haven’t yet, head over to rpmchallenge.com to register now, then come back to post in the comments that you’re in!
I know, I know — I must be crazy. You think I should what? Record a record?! In one month (a 29 day month at that)? Write and record an album (CD, record, whatever) containing at least 10 tracks or is at least 35 minutes long within the month of February — that is the RPM Challenge and the challenge I issue to you.
