This is by far my favourite night of Winter Carnival. I have great memories of waiting at the top of the hill for the show to start and watching all of the cars stream into the parking lot and even stop on the highway in anticipation. In more recent years, skiing down the Cruiser in the dark with two flares as torches and then ducking under the Ring of Fire are definitely the most exciting parts of Carnival for me. The fireworks after the parade are also always fantastic. Every year since I can remember, I’ve participated in the Torchlight Parade at Marble Mountain. This is by far my favourite night of Winter Carnival. Thinking back now I'm sure it was only a few feet in diameter but as a child I remember it being seemingly massive and a huge challenge to skate from one end to the other! I'm very glad that this year the tradition is back with the skating rink a the new Margaret Bowater Park. Although it will seem much smaller to me I'm very decided to lace up the skates and give it a try. This was always my favorite activity at Carnival because as a child I was a hockey player and loved skating. Having it outside on the Majestic lawn under the light provided by the lights strewn in the huge trees was magical and great for fun and exercise! There's nothing better than having a variety of shows to go see. This is my favorite 'cause sometimes Corner Brook lacks in live entertainment, so it is fantastic to be able to pick any given night and be able to see a decent show! Along with that, the feeling of a tight community coming together is also hard to beat! My favorite thing about Carnival is definitely the great selection of live entertainment!
